Marvel Cools Off Release Schedule
Mar. 13th, 2009 11:22 amRemember how after Iron Man split the skies Marvel came out and had this ludicrous movie production schedule that would see an IM sequel, and movies about Thor, Captain America & an Avengers film all out in three years?
Yeah, I think they've realized they may have bitten off more than they can chew.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Marvel will delay the Branagh helmed Thor and The Avengers by a year each. Thor will be out in 2011, and The Avengers will be out in 2012.
Iron Man 2 will still be coming out next year, with Scarlett Johansson starring as the Black Widow. We're also getting another Spider-Man movie in 2011.
Missing from all this is the Captain America movie, which was supposed to come out Victoria Day weekend prior to The Avengers, and would presumably have a cliffhanger ending that would lead into it.
Sam Jackson recently got signed to a nine picture deal with Marvel studios, which will presumably get him at least a cameo in most of these films as well as leading roles in Avengers & a theoretical SHIELD movie.
I regret not asking Wright if he had anything to say about the Ant-Man film.
Marvel has yet to offer any guarantees that the films will not molest the audience, sexually or otherwise.
