I always saw the CC as more the Red Skull's thing. Doom seemed more a "steal someone else's power cosmic" kind of guy.

True, the Cosmic Cube is more of a Red Skull accessory, but I think Doom used it once to usurp the powers of Galactus.
The gauntlet fits his idiom better, though.
