Oh, man. Bryan Adams AND PeeWee Herman. Throw in some terror about MAD and a couple polyhedrals, and it's my experience of the '80s.

Dammit, people, she's a member of the Order of Canada! That puts her right up there with Rush!

edit: Oh, I'm sorry. That's Dr. Col. Loreena McKennit, OC.

But I'll get the Killers Christmas single anyway.

This is, as far as I know, the third year in a row that they've released a Christmas special single. The first year was a fairly traditional Christmas tune called "A Great Big Sled", and last year was a strange Tarantino-esque tune called "Don't Shoot Me, Santa", about a Kris Kringle figure who brings more than coal for naughty children.

This year is the strange tune "Joseph, Better You Than Me", which features Neil Tennant and Elton John. It's an interesting tune so far.

I'm only a mild fan of The Killers, but I just remember an old roommate telling about being a member of the fanclub for the Fifth Dimension, and getting a Christmas single every year as part of the membership. That appeals to me, on a certain level.

On the drive home, I peeked at the spot where Geekdom used to be to see... Well, rationally, I looked over to see if the For Lease sign had come down, or maybe if someone was in there looking over the site.

Irrationally, of course, I was looking to see if maybe, maybe, I'd just imagined the whole thing, and they were still in business, and I'd see Ryan standing out front having a smoke wearing a Santa hat.

It didn't happen, of course.

Anyone who does go in there had better be brave or have a zinger of a business plan. They'd be the fifth business to be in there since I've moved in.

The first shop, The Outer Reaches, was closing up literally as we were moving in. As we picked up our keys, they handed in theirs.

They were followed by a toy and game shop. Not bad, but not long for this world.

Third was a computer shop. I never went in, as we quickly entered Macsylvania and never looked back.

They eventually shut down, and then Geekdom moved in for their one year tour.

That leaves a Dominoes, a nice fish n' chip shop, a convenience store, a place for parolees to facilitate their reabsorption into society, a salon/spa, and a kitchen store. And a vet.

Not exactly a place that screams "come and shop, casually!"

Good luck, whoever goes in.
