A web page with the old D&D ads that ran in comic books.

I recall them fondly. Green Slime! Its touch means instant death!

I also remember, when they came out, looking back a few months to see if there was an earlier clip.

A clip from the D&D Experience (?) featuring Gary.

That is strange. Does anyone know what this is from?

Funny thing is, when I was younger I tracked down extra copies of the comic books that had those adds so that I could cut them out and make my own D&D comic book.

I didn't remember that the first series of D&D comics was set in the ruins of Zenopus castle. That's an old school reference to the sample dungeon from the Holmes edition Basic Set from 1977, the first one I owned and played.

And Indel really is the Chekov of those stories.

Overthinking things much, I ask myself?

"What on Earth could he mean? In what way does Indel represent Anton Chekov? Is it his central place in the broken narrative of short stories? What could he mean?"

*headdesk*

That Chekov. Oh. Yes, of course. Way to miss that one, Doug.

My catchphrase for the day will now be "Look out, it's dripping!"

It's from an independent documentary film called The Dungeons & Dragons Experience. I saw a screening of it at GenCon in Indianapolis, either the year that The Gamers by Dead Gentlemen Productions won the film contest, or the next year. This was the closing segment.

Oh man, I loved those ads when I was a kid.
