Just got an update for Dicenomicon. Included in a bunch of blah blah (hey, copy & paste. That's kind of nifty) is that they have added sounds.

I believe it is now perfect.

I really need to read one of Gordon Ramsay's non-cookbook books, if only to figure out why the heck he calls people "Donkey". Seriously, that's just... strange. On the other hand, maybe English douchebags just expect feelings to bruise when they feel like it, and don't need to make sense.

I have purchased the Hell's Kitchen iPhone game (See press release here), and it's pretty fun. I'm not sure what kind of game it is (a restaurant sim?), and have thankfully not fucked up so badly that Ramsay's screamed at me or called me any sort of beast of burden.

Last night I had to make an emergency Kitty Litter run because the cats had spent all Monday using approximately a handful of litter.

While I was there, I spotted a DVD rack in Ten Below, which is sort of a dollar store only instead of everything costing a loonie, everything costs under ten dollars. Clever, that.

So, while searching the DVD rack, I picked and chose some dvds. The most unfortunate choice was Terrrahawks, a Gerry Anderson series. Cynra is a big fan of Thunderbirds and Captain Scarlet, so I thought "Hey, that's an affordable price! I'm sure she'll enjoy it!"

Apparently, not. Hopefully they do take returns.

I did pick up a few other things that look interesting, including copies of The Kid Stays in the Picture and The Magnificent Seven. I look forwad to repurchasing them in Blu-Ray should I ever make the leap to that format.

I also picked up a copy of The Richard Donner Cut of Superman II. That means I can now return [livejournal.com profile] redeem147's back to her and have my own copy to not watch.

I really, really hope it's better than the official SII, because when I rewatched it a few years ago... whew.

The oddest selection was a copy of Jimmy Macdonald's Canada, a CBC production that parodies old CBC productions. Once again, the perils of seeing something for sale for less than it would cost you to rent it. Hopefully it'll be good. I have high hopes, what with Theresa Pavlinek.

A) The iCBC app. It will have a variety of things on it, like schedules, and maybe links to podcasts, etc. But the most important thing it will have is it will sync up with your GPS and tell you what frequencies CBC 1 & CBC 2 are on. Dammit. Because there's nowt as frustrating as traveling cross country and losing Cross Country Checkup!

B) iLendstuff app. iLendstuff will have three pages. One page will list stuff you think someone will like (I think Mike would like to read my Wil Wheaton book) and another page will list stuff you've lent someone (I've lent Elizabeth Y the Last Man vol 8 & 9) and another will list stuff you've borrowed (I have borrowed Mike's copy of Bioshock).

Because there's nowt worse than the day after getting together with a friend and going "Wait, what did I think they'd like to borrow?"

So I've had the iPhone for a bit over a month now. Liking it quite a bit (even if the Facebook app doesn't let me access Tiny Adventures! WotC, make me a Tiny Adventures app!).

I spent a few hours last week putting together some ringtones, which is stupidly easy. Since I'd just gotten a cd of SF movie themes out of the library, it was even geekier than it needed to be.

I have tried a variety of apps for the iPhone. They make it stupidly easy to get them, including a link to the App store with your phone.

The one that's probably going to get the most use is Dicenomicon. [livejournal.com profile] rentagurkha, before he was consumed by work and impending fatherhood, mentioned it a while back, and [livejournal.com profile] nottheterritory reminded me about it when I mentioned I needed something better than the dicebag utility I'd previously tried.

Dicenomicon is a very strong program. It does a lot of dice types; without doing anything you get the standard TSR era polyhedral run on the front screen, d4-d%. They have a variety of other rolls, including Champions damage dice for normal attacks and killing attacks.

You can program in commonly used dice rolls. For example, for Lacklow I've programmed it to do a to hit for regular and flanking attacks with both his regular attacks and his encounter attacks. I haven't programmed the dailies in yet. It calculated the damage at the same time as it rolls the to hit rolls, and on flanking attacks, it also calculates sneak attack damage.

I think there may be an option for calculating criticals on there as well, but I am haven't found it yet.

It does dice for ST, for Feng Shui, and for Shadowrun and GURPS. And they'd upgrading it all the time.

Just so you don't miss out on tendon degenration, you can roll the dice by shaking your iPhone in addition to pressing a button.

All in all, though, it's a great program. Well worth the three dollars.
